Valerie was my mentor throughout my time at Fielding (2003-2009). From my earliest days as a new student, through the final process of dissertation writing and completion, she was a calming, steady presence. She encouraged me to explore broadly and deeply, to take the time to find my fundamental research interest and most important question, and to follow that question wherever it led me. Along the way, she became a friend. I am grateful to Valerie for ensuring that my Fielding experience was challenging, positive, and ultimately rewarding.
